Microsoft Excel

Sharing Warehouse Information in the EC

Marina Saguinian (EA) Narbeh Nahapetyan, (YEA Manufacturing)

The YEA Manufacturing has developed and deployed a sophisticated warehouse management system for electronics components. Now, electronics components can be identified and pulled out at a moment’s notice. The system can also track the movement of the components from the warehouse to engineering to production and on to the customer.

It currently has 3,000 different types of components with a total of 190,000 pieces.

Any company in the EC may have access to the warehouse information and may acquire any of the components if available.

Children’s Day – a Strategic Initiative

We are all very much looking forward to the Children’s Day, which will take place this Friday, August 23.

We can look at this event either as something nice to do – like introducing the children to their parents’ workplace, or as a strategic event that looks a generation and two into the future for the Engineering City. If we are seriously building a city, then a city is for many generations.

What we want to do is to:

Introduce the children to the EC and introduce the children to each other.

On Friday, 70 of our children will be coming to the EC.

We have a nice age breakdown:

The age groups 6 – 9 and 10 – 14 will meet at the parking lot at 2:00 to take a tour in their parents’ workplace. These age groups will then visit the factory and the museum of space. Then, they will go into a one-hour engineering hands-on session in the workshop.

The 0 – 5 age group will come a bit later. They will meet at the parking lot at at 3:00. After touring their parents’ workplace they will be treated to a puppet show.

At 4:30 PM, all children will come together in the cafeteria for food, play, and fun.

Pic. The schedule at a glance

Here are the coordinating persons:

  • Vehanush (group of 0-5) 091 335010

  • Parandzem (group of 6-9) 091 133180

  • Alla (group of 6-9) 043 353552

  • Mkrtich (group of 6-9) 098 110523

  • Edgar (group of 10-14) 091 983728

  • Babken (group of 10-14) 096 711996

Just for information purpose, here is a breakdown by company. NI is the most productive when it comes to children, followed by the YEAE and Van Technologies.

Zorik Markosyan – an EC Citizen since High School

Zorik first came to the EC when still in High School and he never left it since.

He came to the EC in one summer morning with his mother Siranush (YEAM) as a curiosity, then started working part time in the manufacturing floor while a Polytechnic student, and now a professional engineer as a newly graduate.

An EC citizen to the bone.

Can the EC Children’s Day generate such stories?

Here is Zorik’s story:

Zorik Artyomi Markosyan, Volunteer, Student, Production Engineer, Electronics Engineer, Engineer.

Zorik’s journey at the Engineering City happened by coincidence and by pure interest.

It was summer and a 17-year-old Zorig who loved playing with electronics as a young age, joined his parents coming from Garni as they started a summer job in April of 2018.

Zorig joined them in May 2018 during summer holidays as a volunteer and a matter of interest working on “Project Integration” plastic logements for 3 months.

Slowly he progressed to soldering which interested him even more.

He would come from Garni after school and was here at the Engineering after 1:00 PM to join on some projects

Then the 2020 War happened. Zorig came to help with what was needed and was part of the many, many hands that were part of the war relief efforts.

He his best friend during the war. This was a shock and devasted him. We all witnessed as the grief literally paralyzed our Zorig.

The Engineering City family, however, did not abandon him and reached out to him and literally forced him to come to work. He was now officially not only part of the family but started working as a technician in his own right in 2020.

If this was not enough, he joined the National Polytechnic University to pursue his Engineering degree in Instrumentation & Metrology 2020-2021 and continued with classes in the Engineering City.

During the Pandemic the Engineering City received machinery including an Automated PCB Assembly Line. As travel was restricted, trainings were minimal and conducted online. Zorig worked side by side with Billi and Garnik.

Always under the continuous mentorship of Mr. Ghukasyan, Zorig continued to research and self-train.

Zorik took the initiative to operate the PCB Assembly Line with Billi as his mentor.

He continued researching and studying the inner works of operating this machinery while working on production projects. He took the initiative to travel with the Engineers to visit a Factory in Moscow.

In April 2022 we were introduced to Harmig and Narbeh and of their extensive expertise. Narbeh co-owned a electronics and mechanical factory in Tehran. We took advantage of Harmig knowledge as he conducted a number of electronic classes including quality assurances. Harmig hands-on experience was very valuable to taking Zorik and the team to the next level.

If that was not enough, in July 2022, Zorik participated in an Electronics Assembly Inspection - IPC-A-610 Training & Certification, a four day class conducted by Artin Barseghian (Certified Trainer). This certification is used as end-product acceptance criteria of PCB assemblies. Many customers require the PCBs assembled with this criterion and indicate it in their contracts. This is an individual certification. Anyone responsible for the quality and reliability of electronic assemblies should consider becoming IPC-A-610 certified. Having such a certified person on the manufacturing floor should guarantee quality and reliability of the PCB assembly and the soldering. Zorig passed the 8+ hours examination and was granted certification with flying colors. Engineering City Manufacturing facility can now boast quality and reliability.

Vahan and Garik from Polytechnic College joined the team in 2023. Although still a student himself, this did not stop Zorik to take them under his leadership and mentoring.

Pic. From right to left: Zorig Markosyan, Gagik Harutyunyan, Siranush Gevorgyan, Vahan Poghosyan

Narbeh joined the team 2023 and yet again Zorik soared to greater heights as a Productions Engineer. Zorig, Garik and Vahan gained their most valuable experience in documenting processes and as well as professionally managing electronic projects.

Pic. From left to right: Vahan Poghosyan, Narbeh Nahapetyan, Zorik Markosyan, Gagik Harutyunyan

Under the leadership of Mr. Ghukazyan and Narbeh, Zorik co-authored four major documents:

During this time, the manufacturing passed their audit ranking in flying colors.

Pic. From left to right: Narbeh Nahapetian, Vahan Poghosyan, Zorik Markosyan

Zorig continued to grow, to customer site, participated in customer calls, hosted visitors and dignitaries at the Manufacturing Facility and attended tradeshows. Each time promoting Engineering and Production capabilities.

Pic. Meeting with Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, Minister of HTI, and Ruben Simonyan, Deputy Minister of HTI.

And in May 2024 Zorik defended his thesis and received his Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. A proud moment for his family the Engineering City!
